Life as a Young Married Woman

I was 23 years old, working as a Medical Office Secretary downtown for a Doctor’ Office. I was living everyday life with my new husband learning early on about the sacrifices & compromises that come with being married.

We went on our ‘Honeymoon’ to the ‘Bahamas’ Thanks! To my Mom! Four Days and 3 Nights! This was an extra special experience for me:

1 First time visiting Grand Bahama.

2 First time traveling on a ship/cruise.

3 Our first trip together as a Married Couple. It was an Awesome Experience!

Thankfully! We experienced living life together, working, partying, family events, and maintaining our lifestyle before considering having a child together. Then that day finally came! I was pregnant with our first child. I can honestly say that having a good husband made my nine months of pregnancy much more loving & special, even though I had morning sickness for 6 months of the pregnancy. My son was born! My second child. He was so energetic & cute with such a strong connection to his dad.

To the Best of my abilities, I maintained a helpmeet with my husband, raising two children with the best of my abilities & resources to provide them with a good education at good schools. The challenging part about my Life as a Married Woman was finding balance with setting priorities to take time for myself. Which made me very frustrated at times until I found balance in that area.

What I Learned about Taking Time for Myself to Maintain the Flow of Love I Give to Others…

It is very important as a Woman(Single or Married) to take time for ourselves. Taking time for myself helps me keep my flow of energy and moods healthy.

What do I mean when I say take time for yourself and Make yourself a priority?

Ask yourself these 3 Questions???

What can I do to Self-Improve myself?

What is the most important thing for me to be doing during my (Me Time)?

What activities do I enjoy to Pamper myself that make me feel relaxed, sexy, energetic, confident, and so on and so on….etc

As a married woman, I found my balance with being a wife, and mother, and making time to take care of myself and some of the fun things I enjoyed as an individual.. My Life as a Young Married Woman was satisfying although challenging at times. I was committed to my marriage and willing at all costs>>> In the words of Keith Sweat, “Make It Last Forever”!!!!!

This is so true, Kendra! You have to make time for yourself even when you look after a lot of people. I found this to be one of my greatest challenges…. Making time for ME! It can seem like you’re being selfish or neglecting others but it is so important to do so! I always relate it to what they tell you on a plane in an emergency situation, ” You have to put on your oxygen mask before you can help anybody else (child, spouse, parents) because by the time you help everyone else, you will be out of it yourself.

I make sure to be intentional about creating a self care day for myself at last once or twice a month and I can see such a difference in doing so!

    1. Hey Antoinette! I love the comparison example you gave relating to putting yourself 1st.. That’s exactly my point… Self Love & Self Care is very important! I appreciate your feedback 😊
